5 common excuses and how to overcome them

“Eating healthy is too expensive.”

I can really relate to this because I’m a college student and don’t have extra bills to throw around. I always feel like my wallet can’t keep up with my meal plan, but I have to remind myself that I’m making a good decision when I buy healthy foods. You have to think about it like you are investing in your health. Yes it stinks to buy expensive produce, but wouldn’t you rather pay for food thats good for you than piles of medical bills in the future because you have so many health problems? Making healthy choices is worth every penny because your body is the most important thing you own and it deserves the best care, attention and food.

“Eating healthy doesn’t taste good.”

Okay, but eating unhealthy can taste pretty bad too. Eating healthy doesn’t always mean forcing yourself to eat kale for every meal. There are SO MANY healthy recipes out there that taste amazing! Browse through my blog for the recipes I’ve posted and visit my YouTube Channel for some examples. Also, taste buds change over time. Bad diets abuse taste buds but after eating healthier for a few weeks, your taste buds will reset and you might find you actually enjoy the taste of more healthy foods!

“I’ll start on Monday.”

Why? Didn’t you say that last week? When are you going to stop talking about it and start doing it? The hardest step is the first one, but as soon as you take it, you’ll begin to walk down a path that will transform your body and life and pretty soon you’ll find yourself running full speed ahead. Think about the future and where you want to end up. If what you’re doing right now doesn’t help you end up there, then you should reevaluate and maybe make a few changes. Do this for you! You deserve it! Let’s pretend today’s Monday. Ready GO! #DoStuff

“I don’t have enough time.”

Me neither! Life is crazy friend! We all have a million things going on but if you sit down and think about it, you need a healthy, strong body to do all your million things. You and your body should be of utmost importance! God only gave you one, and it’s the one thing you can semi have control over. It’s our jobs to take care of ourselves. You are so special and I want to see you do amazing things in life. Check out my “Strong Body, Strong Heart” booklet for my tips on how to cook healthy meals quicker and on the go. With the proper planning you can do this and stay on track.

“I’ve tried it before and it didn’t work.”

I’ve said it before, but being healthy isn’t just something you can do for a week and then be good to go for the rest of your life. (Unfortunately) This is a lifestyle, something that requires daily effort, good decision making, sacrificing and intentionality. You don’t have to be perfect, ever because you are human and won’t ever be. So don’t put that pressure on yourself. Each step toward a healthier lifestyle is a step in the right direction. If it didn’t work for you before, that doesn’t mean it won’t work for you again. Give it another shot and try something new. Be encouraged that you CAN DO THIS and find what works for you!
